Trey Songz出生於維吉尼亞州，從小雖未受過音樂的專業訓練，在教堂唱詩班的經歷過程，為他帶來相當大的技藝磨練機會。從原本鍾情的嘻哈饒舌派系，轉入節奏藍調領域。2005發表處女秀“Gotta Make It＂，並沒有引起廣大迴響，隨後再接再厲問市的專輯“Trey Day”，靠著單曲「Can’t Help But Wait」，入圍葛萊美『最佳R&B男歌手』肯定，Trey的知名度跟著水漲船高！接續“Ready”、“Passion, Pain & Pleasure”兩張作品，分別搶下美國告示牌流行榜季軍、亞軍位置，獲頒兩張金唱片銷售認證。2012和2014年的“Chapter V”、“Trigga”成績更是亮眼，全部拱入冠軍寶座，英國也擠進Top20之林，招攬至Mariah Carey、Jennifer Lopez等天后單曲合作陣營中！
