<P>★ 兴兴向荣的英国乐坛每过一段时间，都会冒出深受全球乐迷爱戴的流行新星，Travis、Keane、James Blunt与KT Tunstall都是很好的证明，他们的作品不仅收服流行乐迷，连摇滚乐迷也不禁陷入那轻柔温暖的世界。来自英国伦敦的五人乐队Ben’s Brother，则是另一个大家不容错过的声音，2006年后Ben’s Brother在Jamie Hartman的号召下正式成立，除了身兼主唱与创作灵魂的Jamie Hartman，一同登台演出的团员还包括Kiris Houston (键盘/吉他)、Dan McKinna (贝斯) 、Dave Hattee (鼓手)与Tim Vanderkuil (吉他)等四名成员。他们的团名与首张专辑《Beta Male Fairytales》的名称则忠实反应出，创团人物Jamie不希望活在他人的阴影之下。谁也没想到，这个原本略带自嘲意味的团名，竟然成为英国乐坛2007年最值得注意的新兴组合。 </P>

<P>★ Jamie很早就展露他的音乐天份，青少年时期他已经开始利用钢琴创作，然而家族聚会时，众人谈论的重心总是围绕在哥哥Ben过人的运动长才上，得不到长辈关注的Jamie，一头栽入音乐的世界中，藉此抒缓心中的不安全感。后来哥哥把Jamie自行刻录下来的创作，辗转发送给其它朋友并获得极高的回响。偶然的情况下，他发现哥哥部份朋友在CD上注明「Ben’s Brother」，已经懂得自嘲的他，将这个突兀的发现做为发表创作的个人代号。他更试着走上街头，成为一名在大街上自娱娱人的街头艺人，常常在一个半小时后，就能有将近70英磅的进帐，毫无疑问地，他的作品深受大众喜爱，于是他也对儿时哥哥会得到较多关爱的事实，渐渐感到释怀。 </P>

<P>★ 正如前面提到的，2006年Jamie正式筹组一个属于自己的乐队Ben’s Brother，很快地他们出色的音乐获得EMI唱片集团注意，正式成为该唱片公司旗下继Joss Stone与KT Tunstall后的重点新秀。《Beta Male Fairytales》是他们首张正式大碟，全数歌曲皆出自Jamie的手笔，当中亦请来多位杰出乐手助阵演奏，让听众找回聆听Sam Cooke、Elton John与Travis时的深层感动。这13首深具流行潜质的歌曲，让人几乎听见自己心碎的声音，却又在下个音符间找到希望的光芒。〈Rise〉、〈Carry On〉、〈Beauty Queen〉与〈Let Me Out〉等优质作品，乐迷千万不容错过。</P>
